Movin’ the music

in Disney, Noggin

It appears that Dan Zanes will be moving his musical reportoire from Noggin to Playhouse Disney. This appeared in an article in today’s New York Times:

Before taking on a life of their own, the videos were shot for “Jack’s Big Music Show,” a puppet-driven program that had its premiere last month and currently features videos by Ms. Berkner, the Dirty Sock Funtime Band and Milkshake – though not by Mr. Zanes, who now has a deal with Playhouse Disney to produce his own music show.

The article wasn’t just focusing on Zanes, but talked about the general popularity of preschool pop music that was spearheaded by Noggin’s Move to the Music.

While my kids love the Laurie Berkner music, and are fans of Jack’s Big Music Show, Dan Zanes never really seemed to click with them.

It will be interesting to see if Playhouse Disney will continue on with The Wiggles, or if they are planning to use Zanes as a replacement.

This is interesting. Noggin sponsored the tour along with Bright Horizons Day Care but now it looks like Disney says they sponsored the tour – is there an ownership with Noggin and Disney? I think Noggin is a PBS and Nickolodeon partnership and I thought Nick was a Viacom company – maybe its not?? Anyways, Dan Z. has been all but absent from Noggin so I figured he was doing something, he did tour with Jamarama or atleast the website says he did – look forward to seeing more of him – he was my son’s first concert and we had a blast.
