On December 9th, Nickelodeon will premiere a special Christmas episode of LazyTown titled LazyTown’s Surprise Santa. I had a chance to screen the episode, so I rounded up my two kids and two nephews to watch it.
In the episode, Robbie Rotten finds out that there will be a Christmas Party where Sportacus is the guest of honor. Robbie aims a cannon loaded with a giant snowball at the head of the table where Sportacus is expected to be seated. Once the cannon is taken care of, Robbie dons a Santa Clause costume and heads down the chimney to steal the presents. As he is loading the presents in his bag, Robbie realizes that there is a present waiting for him. He sheepishly tries to sneak out the chimney but is discovered. Robbie apologizes and joins the party for dinner when he realizes that his loaded cannon is about to go off. He tells Sportacus who is able to save the day.
The show followed the typical LazyTown format, only with snow (minor quibble: the show promotes heathly living but Sportacus was out in the snow in his regular costume - put a coat on!). The music was enjoyable, and the production quality is typically stunning.
Both of my kids, especially my two year old were entertained and asked for a second viewing. My 5 year old nephew was entertained, but his older brother moved onto other endeavors. If your kids enjoy LazyTown (and mind do), they will probably enjoy this addition to the series.
