Noggin around the clock

in Business, Noggin

Noggin LogoStarting with the last day of 2007, Noggin will move to a 24 hour format as it splits with The N!. For fans fo The N!, that will go to a 24 hour format as well on it’s own channel. The move puts Noggin head to head with PBS Sprout as they pursue kiddies-after-dark (that sounds bad now that I reread it).

To kickoff the move Noggin has some new programming planned for New Year’s Eve including a 90 minute Franklin movie.

  • 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. (ET) “Franklin and the Turtle Lake Treasure” (*TV Premiere)
  • 7:30 – 8:30 p.m. (ET) “Dora Saves the Mermaids”
  • 8:30 – 9:00 p.m. (ET) “Save the Wonder Pets!”
  • 9:00 – 10:30 p.m. (ET) “Franklin and the Turtle Lake Treasure”
  • 10:30 – 11:00 P.M. (ET) “Great Jaguar Rescue”

In “Franklin and the Turtle Lake Treasure,” Franklin is on a holiday break from school when he receives a surprise visit from his Aunt Lucy, an explorer whose specialty is finding archaeological treasures. This family reunion gives Franklin’s Granny the chance to relive her own childhood. When she mentions a box filled with treasures that she buried at Turtle Lake as a child, Franklin is intrigued. When Granny falls ill and Aunt Lucy remembers a talisman that was hidden in the famous box, a treasure hunt becomes extremely important. Franklin decides immediately to hunt for this remedy which could save his grandmother. His friends Beaver and Bear accompany him, with Aunt Lucy and her goddaughter Samantha, a headstrong little turtle with whom Franklin has a hard time contending with. It’s a difficult journey, but Franklin is ready to do anything to help Granny and it also gives him the chance to make new friends.

Looks like Noggin and N still have some things to work out. I promised my little girl that she could watch the Franklin movie at 6:00 PM on Noggin. After about 15 minutes, Noggin was cut off and N started with Fresh Prince. She was extremely disappointed and I got to spend about an hour of New Years Eve consuling my 3 yeard old. Looks like someone at Noggin did not use their noggin.

Same thing happened here. My four year old was VERY disappointed. They have not re-shown the Franklin movie yet and he keeps asking about it! Still have the Noggin/N split.

Sounds like both of you have Dish Network. Unfortunately, they didn’t split up the networks properly, apparently feeling it wasn’t in their contract. It was the final straw for me — I dumped them and switched to DirecTV.

This is the best response I have received on the matter:

Scott M. KQ7: Thank you for choosing Dish Network the leader in DVR and HD. I will be happy to assist you today. Please give me 2-3 minutes to access your account and review the information you have already provided.
Becky: Yes, I heard that Dish Network was supposed to seperate Noggin and The N networks into two different channels. Last year every other provider made the switch with no problem like they were supposed to. I was wanting to know why Dish Netwrok hasn’t made the switch yet. Nick Games and Sports is supposed to be off the air and The N should be in it place. Is there any reason why Dish Network is still time sharing these two network and why they aren’t
Becky: on different channels like the should be?
Scott M. KQ7: Unfortunately we don’t have any information as to why they haven’t separated them, I can put in a request for that to happen. I do apologize.
Becky: That would be greatly appreciated.
Scott M. KQ7: I will do that.
Scott M. KQ7: Can I help you with anything else?
Becky: No, that is all and that would be really nice if you all could get that done. I have a young son and we would love it if it got fixed like it should be.
Scott M. KQ7: I understand, we have had other request too.
Scott M. KQ7: So I will pass your request along also.
Becky: Thank You. You have been the most helpful on this matter.
Scott M. KQ7: You are very welcome.
Scott M. KQ7: Glad to help.
Scott M. KQ7: I’m glad we were able to take care of that for you. Thank you for being a DISH Network customer, have a great day.
Becky: You too.

Where is “Jack’s Big Music Show”? We couldn’t find it this morning and my one year old great-grandson loves this show, along with me. It is about the best thing you had going for you for the very young. They didn’t have to understand the dialogue to get enjoyment out of the program.

So, what have you done with it?
