Nai Hao Kai-Lan set for 2nd season

nihaokailan.jpgNick Jr. is set to roll out a second season of Nai Hao, Kai-Lan starting the week of May 11th. New episodes will air each weekday that week at 11 a.m. The second season contains 20 episodes that “focus on more complex social emotional issues like hitting and separation anxiety, providing lessons to preschoolers on how to better express and deal with their feelings.”

The episode run down for the week of the 11th is below:
Monday, May 11 (11:00 a.m.) – #202 “The Dinosaur Balloon”–Kai-lan, Rintoo and Stompy are making a special dinosaur-shaped balloon for Lulu’s hot air balloon festival. But when Kai-lan accidentally breaks her balloon, Stompy doesn’t think he needs to help put it back together, since it’s not his fault. Rintoo and the viewer need to encourage Stompy to help Kai-lan before it’s time for the balloons to sail into the sky.

Emotion/Issue: Pitching In

Tuesday, May 12 (11:00 a.m.) – #205 “Kai-lan’s Big Play” — Kai-lan and her friends are putting on a play based on the traditional Chinese folktale about the Monkey King. Hoho loves the Monkey King, and he really wants to play the part, but he doesn’t speak up. When Rintoo gets the part of the Monkey King instead, Hoho gets so mad that he quits the play. Kai-lan and the viewers must help Hoho calm down so he can say what’s bothering him in time to do the play.

Emotion/Issue: Anger
Chinese Target Word: Tiao4 (jump)

Wednesday, May 13 (11:00 a.m.) – #203 “Playtimes at Tolee’s” — Everyone’s going over to Tolee’s boat house to play. All the friends have a great time… until Rintoo accidentally rips Tolee’s new panda painting. Rintoo apologizes, but Tolee just won’t forgive him. With a little inspiration from the Peking Mice, Kai-lan and the viewers help Tolee forgive his friend so everyone can play together again.

Emotion/Issue: Forgiveness
Chinese Target Word: Ping2 guo3 (apple)

Thursday, May 14 (11:00 a.m.) – #204 “The Moon Festival” – Kai-lan is so excited about the traditional Chinese Moon Festival. Hoho is thrilled because he’s finally old enough to stay awake with his friends so they can make lanterns, eat mooncakes, and best of all: watch the moon come out! But when the sky is so cloudy that Hoho can’t see the moon at all, he breaks into tears. Kai-lan and the viewer have to help Hoho find a way to make everything better.

Emotion/Issue: Disappointment
Chinese Target Word: Yue4 bing3 (mooncake)

Friday, May 15 (11:00 a.m.) – #206 “Kai-lan’s Big Surprise” — Kai-lan needs help to plan a very special party for Yeye to thank him for all he does. But when everything she plans goes wrong, Kai-lan gets very frustrated and starts to cry – much to the surprise of her friends! Rintoo, Tolee, and Hoho need the viewer’s help to show Kai-lan how to use laughter to feel better when she’s disappointed. Then they must get everything ready for the big party!
