Earth Day episodes on the Disney Channel

The Disney Channel will have encore showings of Green-Themed episodes of Handy Manny and Special Agent Oso this morning in the 8-11am programming block. Episodes descriptions are below:

“Special Agent Oso” In “Dr. Off,” Oso learns that conserving water and power can be as simple as the flip of a switch.

“Handy Manny” – In “Arbor Day,” Manny and the tools help park groundskeeper Jackie transplant an ailing tree to a sunnier spot.

“Handy Manny” – In “Jackie’s Old Shed,” Manny and the tools build a recycling storage area using recycled wood from an old shed.

Disney rolls new schedule, shortens Playhouse Disney block

Parents and kids tuning into get their regular dose of Disney may have been surprised with a new morning schedule. It appears that Disney is shortening the Playhouse Disney branded programming block and that a couple staple shows are being phased out.

The Playhouse Disney block now only runs from 8 a.m. to noon. This makes the start of the block two hours later than in the past. Jo-Jo’s Circus, Johnny and the Sprites and The Doodlebops have been completely removed from the station. Higglytown Heroes now only airs on the weekends at 6 a.m. Also being de-emphasized is The Wiggles which is being pushed back to 11:30 a.m. from it’s “primetime” 7 a.m. slot.

Phineas and Ferb, Handy Manny, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and Imagination Movers are the shows receiving more exposure. The new schedule is below:

New Playhouse Disney Episodes

Playhouse Disney will have a morning full of new episodes in time for Valentines Day. The schedule is below:

Johnny and the Sprites (Saturday February 9, 7:30 a.m. ET/PT) – Lily gives Johnny a ”love bug” for Valentine’s Day, but it causes him to fall in love with Francesca the Frog! Then Root casts a spell that makes him grow twenty feet tall, but learns that his friends like him just the size he is.

Mickey Mouse Clubhouse (Saturday February 9 9:00 a.m. ET/PT) - Minnie is planning a picnic to celebrate the new picnic grounds, and it takes help from all her friends to ensure the event’s success!

Bunnytown (Saturday February 9, 11:00 a.m. ET/PT) – It’s Carrot Giving Day in Bunnytown, and everyone, including Spacebunny, wants to show how much they care about their friends, by sharing their carrots.

Handy Manny (Thursday February 14, 9:30 a.m. ET/PT) – Manny and the tools help assemble a robot for their neighbor Mr. Bouffant (voiced by Fred Willard) to give to his wife for a Valentine’s Day present. But when the robot doesn’t do anything it’s supposed to, everyone comes to learn that it’s the thought that counts.

More Handy Manny Coming

The second season of Handy Manny will premiere on October 27th at 10:30 am.

The premiere episode of season two finds the tools helping to concoct a new smoothie flavor while repairing the counter at Oscar’s House of Smoothies. Mark Steines of “Entertainment Tonight” guest stars as the voice of Oscar. In the episode’s second story, when Mayor Rosa hears ghost-like noises coming from the clock tower, Manny and the tools investigate whether there really is a “fantasma” (Spanish for “ghost”) haunting the tower.
